So I've just watched this movie, Tomorrowland - 2015 and it was awesome!
Okay not exactly awesome awesome but I have an excerpt that I can quote and I can't wait to type it down somewhere. So, here we go
Disclaimer: I changed a few words and sentences to make it more dramatic? Tehee
Let's imagine
If you glimpse the future,
and were frightened by what you saw,
what would you do with this information?
The probability of widespread annihilation kept going up
And what reasonable human being
wouldn't be galvanized
by the potential destruction of everything
we're ever known or loved?
How do you think we responded to the prospect of imminent doom?
We gobbled it up, like a chocolate eclair
We didn't fear our demise,
we repackaged it.
It can be enjoyed as video games, TV shows, books, movies.
The entire world wholeheartedly embraced the apocalypse,
and sprinted towards it with gleeful abandon.
Meanwhile, our Earth was crumbling all around us,
we got simultaneous epidemics of obesity and starvation,
Bees and butterflies start to dissapear,
The glaciers melt,
Algae blooms all around us,
The coal mine canaries are dropping dead,
And we won't take the hint!
In every moment,
There was a possibility of a better future,
But we won't believe it,
And because we won't believe it,
we wouldn't do what is necessary
to make it a reality.
So we dwell on this terrible future,
We resign ourselves to it,
for one reason.
Because that future doesn't ask anything of us today.
We saw the iceberg,
We warned the 'Titanic'
But we all just steered at it anyway,
Full steam ahead.
Why?
Because we want to sink,
Because we gave up.
